New play readings galore!

Writer: Harsh J. Gagoomal Harsh J. Gagoomal

I've kicked off 2025 by acting in staged readings of three incredible new plays, as:

  • Jay-R in We Pump Your Gas in Jersey by Makeda M. Declet

    • Summary: "When Oregon drops its mandate, New Jersey remains the only state with a ban on self-service gas stations. Meanwhile at a station on the Jersey-New York border, attendants and customers question the meaning of radical non-resistance."

    • This was presented as part of Theatre L'Acadie's fifth installment of their In Bloom new work series. It was directed by Brandii Champagne.

  • Jeffrey in Dread Merchants by Andrew Piechota

    • Summary: "In the convention hall of a Marriott somewhere in the midwest, two sales reps- the seasoned Frank and newcomer Bruce- hawk custom-built survival bunkers to would-be doomsday preppers. They are far from alone, hustling desperately in an industry of doom merchants, disaster architects, and real-estate brokers of the apocalypse, not the least of which is their rival, Jeffrey. When Bruce and Frank are faced with a PR disaster from one of their own customers, they must each decide how far they will go to survive in an industry where paranoia is the product, and nothing is truly safe enough to satiate a clientele teetering on the brink."

    • This was presented as part of Pocket Theatre VR's inc.ubator new play festival. It was directed by Faith Hart.

  • Lex in The Pilon by Zach Barr

    • Summary: "In a Seattle sports card shop, a schism is brewing between those who collect for sentimental reasons and those who look only for high-dollar cards to resell. When a potential goldmine card is found by a trans teenager, the resulting scramble to sell it forces the store’s co-owners, and their regular customers, to re-evaluate how they define themselves as collectors – and, furthermore, as male."

    • This is being presented as part of The Understudy's Freshly Brewed new play series. It's directed by Kidany Camilo.
